The average American spends 93% of their life indoors. With the pressures of modern life we are all now firmly part of the indoor generation. We understand the activities of daily life more often than not require us to be indoors. This impacts our emotional wellbeing which leads to a negative impact on ourselves physically. Vivarium aims to solve this problem through biophilic design.  A study conducted by Virje University Medical Centre in the Netherlands found that by just looking at an image with nature in it can activate the parasympathetic nervous system which is responsible for controlling certain rest functions.
